Sunday was Pentecost Sunday, the day that the church began. Pentecost itself is a Jewish

feast day that comes 50 days after the Passover Sabbath. That meant that, as far as the Jews were concerned, it always came on the first day of the week, the day

we call Sunday. Several notable events took place on that Pentecost Sunday. God sent the Holy Spirit to set apart the 12 Apostles and equip them to lead the church. It was done in quite a dramatic way. You can read about it in Acts, chapter 2. In addition, the first gospel sermon was preached; you can read about it in Acts, chapters 2 and 3. As a result, 3,000 people believed the message proclaimed, repented, and were baptized. You can also read that account in Acts, chapter 2. What an impressive beginning!

We had a great service on Sunday. Lyle Pettigrew drew our thoughts to Pentecost to close out the morning with a song he and his wife, Susan, had written about the day of Pentecost, “Pentecost Revisted”. It was uplifting with a catchy tune, and it was extremely loyal to what the scriptures describe.

Mike and Amy were on vacation, so Lynn Bowman led worship and did a great job as she always does. We are so fortunate to have a host of talented people who step up when needed. Thanks Lynn. Of course, with Lynn leading, that left the piano vacant, and our friend, Richard Drexler, was back to fill that spot. And, Lisa Donohue sang the song, “Story of My Life”, which was a perfect fit for the entire service. Thank you to everyone who made Sunday special.

Work continues on the addition to the Fellowship Center. This week, what had been the back wall of the large classroom was removed, giving us an idea of just how large the new fellowship space will be. It is hard for a picture to do it justice, but this is going to be a great space. If you look at the upper right side, you can see the grid for the ceiling being installed. This is happening throughout the building. The picture at the bottom is the large classroom that stretches clear across the back of the building, and the other picture is of the hallway from the large fellowship area back toward the back of the building. Restrooms are on the left and classrooms are on the right. The guy carrying the box does not come with the building. Thanks for your interest and support. We can see the finish line.
