Thank you from Matt and Connie

I know the phrase “Words cannot express…” is a cliché, but it aptly expresses what Connie and I feel when we think about the wonderful day you gave us on January 25 as we closed out our ministry at New Life. Everything was over the top. Mike, Bob, our Elders and Jennifer and Kristen put together a remarkable event that touched our hearts. Worship was great. The music was terrific, the time of recognition was a lot of fun and the prayers of the elders over us was a fitting way to close the morning activities.

We were overwhelmed with your generosity. We received over 200 cards, some of which brought tears as we read the kind words you wrote. I would guess that most of them contained money gifts or gift cards, mostly to eating establishments. I can take Connie out whenever I want and you will pick up the tab. How cool is that? We also received several gifts. I am thinking that for me probably the best gift was a clock-like device that didn’t identify the time but rather the day!

Larry Wood gave us a computer hard drive-like device with everything that happened at New Life from 2011 to 2026. There are pictures and videos of almost all the worship services and special services, such as concerts and Christmas Eve. It is an amazing collection that we will cherish for the rest of our days. It is one of those gifts that just keeps on giving.

Then the two receptions were such a blessing, as Connie and I got to greet you. We believe that you came to see us, but the cake and punch may have had something to do with it. We just don’t know. The reception was the work of Marlene Nellans and her kitchen crew. They are the best.

Again, when we say the words “We love you,” it just doesn’t seem to be enough. I am going to miss getting to be your minister and share with you God’s Word. Connie is going to miss all the hugs she gives and receives each Sunday. You know what they say, “Nothing says lovin’ like one of Connie’s huggins’” (I made that up). Thank you for all you have added to our lives. I firmly believe we are better people because of all of you.
